In 2021, the Transition Team worked with the congregation to modify and affirm its identity statements as follows:
Mission Statement: We are the Hands and Voice and Face of God to one another and to the World.
Vision Statement: No matter what, a place for you!
- Relevant Faith: KOG is a place where people explore how faith is relevant in daily life.
- Personal Connections: KOG is a place where people feel a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves.
- Intentional Involvement: KOG is an inclusive place that meets people where they are by helping them connect and grow in faith, relationships, service, and community.
- Sacred Beauty: KOG is a place where people engage all their senses to experience and share God’s presence and beauty inside and outside the church.
The ELCA is a Christian Church. As a Lutheran church, the ELCA is grounded in the work of Martin Luther (1483-1546). Luther’s Small Catechism summarizes our core beliefs.

King of Glory was established in 1957 when Arvada was a small farming community of 2,700 people. The congregation grew quickly along with the growing suburb. Over the years there have been many highs and some lows.
In 2021, a Transition Team was formed to fill a pastoral vacancy. As part of their work, they summarized KOG’s history and worked with the congregation to determine what lessons could be learned from their past. They also worked with the congregation to update values statements, articulate what the congregation aspires to become, and identify the qualities they seek in their next pastor .
