citizens with the saints

Ephesians 2:14 -20

On our Pilgrimage of faith and service  beginning months before we actually arrive in New Orleans with 39, 000 other youth.  We will be attending, serving and helping in a variety of activities to build new friendships, strengthen existing relationships and help each of us build leadership skills to pray to participate in service and community building experineces and to learn more about our strengths and weaknesses together as a group and individually.

The featured youth for February

Stephanie is in the 9th grade

Her favorite subject in school is Spanish

Stephanie will be confirmed in May 2012

Stephanie is excited to attend the Youth Gathering because she believes it will be a great opportunity to help people who have been effected by natural disasters.  She thinks going to New Orleans for the Youth Gathering will her grow in emotionally and strengthen her faith and relationship with God.

Thoughts from a New Orleans resident after we left in 2009

and finding out we will be returning in 2012

“The whole city is buzzing about the blessings that all the Lutheran Youth have brought to the City of New Orleans!  Please pass the word to all the church members that they truly provided a beautiful witness of faith well lived!  I know that their labor brought great joy to our Lord and the fruit of their labor will be enjoyed by His people of New Orleans for years to come!  We can’t wait to welcome them in once again in July!”

2012 Youth Gathering Trip

For the 2012 Youth Gathering we as a group have decided that we would like to go via bus with Sky Ranch and other congregations of the Rocky Mountain Synod traveling together as citiznes with the saints.

On Sunday, July 15, 2012 we will be boarding a 55 – passenger charter bus, equiped with reclining seats, video and DVD systems.

We will have three nights lodging in hotels, a major community service project in

Albuquerque, NM.  Afternoon enteraintment in Houston TX, 11 meals, snacks and refreshments on the bus and morning worship experiences and resources for evening congregational devotions.  This cost is $600.00 per youth and includes all lodging, meals and snacks.

This year while in New Orleans the Youth Gathering will house the youth and leaders together with other youth and leaders from the same Synod.  This will help to connect with youth who might be in their same area and help begin long time friendships.

We are all very excited for our experience together, on the way, while in New Orleans and what each of us bring back home to King of Glory.

We appreciate the congregations support to help make this possible.

KID’S NIGHT OUT!

Because Kid’s Night Out in December was such a HIT with both Parents and Children, the youth will be putting on another Kid’s Night Out and we hope that parents will be able to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for you to know your children are having a BLAST and  you too can have a BLAST with your spouse!

2012 Extravaganza

I have the opportunity along with Joshua to attend the 2012 Extravaganza in New Olreans, February 8th – February 12th.

What is an Extravaganza

The Extravaganza is an annual 4 day conference that draws together anywhere from 500-750 adults who work with youth in  congregations of the ELCA for the premier renewal, education and networking event of our church.  It is for the professional and the volunteer.  It is for all who share in the adventure we call youth and family minstiry.

The Extravaganza is put on by the ELCA Youth Ministry Newtwork

The main focus is about Renewal, Education and Networking.

This years Extravaganza is being held in New Orleans and is focusing on the Youth Gathering – with several core classes around what we will be experiencing at the Youth Gathering.
