A theme running through this fall-from the Tuesday evening Bible study group, to Confirmation, to worship has been "What's Grace Got to Do With It?  Living Lutheran."  As a Lutheran congregatin, KOG inherits a rich theological tradition-a way of understanding God as the one who, through Christ, sees us as righteous, and invites us-and challenges us-to shape our lives and relationships in response to this gift of grace.   Because your answers to the questions will be rooted in this dee tradition of grace, opportunities to deepen understanding and faith are important.  There are a lot of opportunities, please check them out!

Healthy Congregations Develop Generous People

Last summer two Healthy   Congregations workshops were offered:  Creating Healthy  Congregations, and Healthy Congregations Respond to Anxiety and Change.  Almost 50 congregational members participated in these workshops, and it is my impression (Pastor Carol) that the learning from these workshops has played a significant role in calming the congregation, and in beginning to think about the future of KOG.  This fall, two more workshops will be offered.

The first, Healthy Congregations Develop Generous People, considers stewardship as a way of life and a framework for    living.  Two sections will be   offered.   Section A will meet in the Antioch Room on Thursday mornings from 9:30 – noon, October 16, 23, & 30.  Section B will also meet in the Antioch Room on Monday evenings, from 7:00 – 9:30, October 20, 27, and November 3.The second, Leadership in Healthy Congregations, will be part of the Council Retreat this month, and will be offered again sometime in November.  We will keep you posted!

Adult Bible Study

Adult Bible Study on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. will continue looking at Martin Luther and the Reformation.  On September 30 and October 7, we will watch and discuss the remainder of the recent film, Luther.  On October 21 and 28, we will look more closely at some of Luther’s writings.   The study will not meet on October 14, when Pastor Carol is attending the Healthy Congregations Advanced Workshop.
